Our Approach

1 –  Use & Re-use Renewable Energy:   The intersection of lost art and modern science is where the grandest ROI is with solar and geothermal.

Solar:  Used for PV power generation, solar thermal water heating, and transpired solar direct air heating.

Geothermal:   Fresh air direct preconditioning, twin ground-source heat pumps that are boosted by the solar heating system.   These systems are custom-designed to maximize and multiply renewable energy sources, maximize reliability, and reduce costs.

Wind:  With onsite interconnection and structure in place, the home awaits market conditions that make wind energy economically feasible in our zone.

3 – Achieve Luxury via Sustainability:     There’s no reason a well-designed green building can’t also a very luxurious one.

Home melts the snow off walkways and driveway, using a majority of energy from the earth and sun.

Interior spans are free of structural columns and bathed in natural light from sunrise to sunset, with impressive vistas in all directions.

Superinsulated, thermal-bridge-free construction envelopes occupants in uniform temperature without any drafts or cold surfaces.

Indoor air is cleaner than a surgical lab, with dewpoint and humidity control, constant fresh-air ventilation and indoor air purification.

4 –  Orientation is everything:  Maximize enjoyment and building performance by positioning elements correctly.

Tracking the sun’s path and measuring neighboring building shadows allows minimal energy use and maximum diffusion of natural daylight indoors.

In addition, by adhering to the principles of Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra, Zenesis House situates occupants in magnetic and spiritual balance for optimal well-being.

5- Adhere to Cradle-to-Cradle construction principles reusing building and construction materials where possible, and sourcing only post-consumer-recycled or renewable materials.

6 –  Skin in the Game Breeds Innovation:   When a practicing Engineer designs a house for his own family, and pays for construction out of his own pocket, creative juices really start flowing.  A staunch budgetary hawk his whole life, and research engineer on the cutting edge of geothermal and solar thermal heat transfer, the system and building enhancements Raj developed on this project give never-before-seen performance at incredibly low built cost.

8 –  Be a good neighbor  Retain stormwater during extreme weather events to reduce affect on municipal stormwater system.    Reduce burden on electrical grid during peak times.  Emit no combustion exhaust.   Use alkaline stucco to neutralize ambient air contaminants.   Invite local schoolchildren in to learn more about sustainability and participate in municipal Earth Day events.
