Two 1,000-gallon cisterns were built into an insulated vault adjacent to an insulated cellar wall.

When heat escapes the insulated cellar walls in the brutal winter, that heat enters the cistern vault to the East.   (Also the driveway and the patio to the North and West).

In case the 2,000 gallons become full, we’ve also installed a 2,000 gallon drywell system under the front yard, with solids filter, to handle overflow.

A drywell was installed in the front yard to capture overflow from the rainwater tanks, and any additional runoff, so that the property neither floods nor burdens the municipal stormwater system.

2014 Q-2 (452)Water goes through five (5) stages of filtration and purification before being re-used in the home.

The system is also quite neighborly.   By storing water during storms and releasing into the septic system much later, the home doesn’t burden the Borough’s stormwater system during peak load times.
